Trial by Frost is the first expansion for Altered TCG, released on January 31, 2025. This 90-card set introduces new mechanics and themes, immersing players in the icy terrains surrounding the city of Asgartha.

These Expedition Permanents provide ongoing support to expeditions. Unlike characters, Gear cards remain in play even if the associated hero is eliminated, offering strategic advantages throughout the game.

This feature introduces a layer of resource management and tactical depth. Players can exhaust opponent's cards, temporarily preventing their use and potentially causing an overflow in the opponent's Reserve, which reduces their card advantage.

Certain cards gain additional benefits or trigger unique effects based on the region type they're played in, encouraging players to adapt their strategies to the environment. 

The expansion also reintroduces 12 heroes from the original set, "Beyond the Gates," allowing players to explore new synergies and strategies with familiar characters.
