Gizmo, also known as "Giz", is the main protagonist of the Gremlins franchise. He is a Mogwai and is Billy's pet. He doesn't seem to have any malice in his body, which makes him an Eternal, or a Mogwai who refuses to be evil. It belonged to Mr. Wing who had it at the age of 10 until his death. Gizmo is kind and friendly and currently lives with Billy and Kate Peltzer in New York. Gizmo is a loyal and adorable mogwai.
