Deadpool, or Wade Wilson, is a character from the Marvel Comcics. He first appeared in New Mutants #98 in December 1990 and was created by artist and writer Rob Liefeld, as well as writer Fabian Nicieza. He was originally depicted as a supervillain in both New Mutants and X-Force, but has since become an antihero. Deadpool is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, a disfigured Canadian mercenary with superhuman regenerative healing abilities. He is known for his tendency to joke incessantly and break the fourth wall for humorous effect.

Deadpool is known under the editorial names Merc with a Mouth. One of his main superpowers is his ability to break the fourth wall, which helped increase the character's popularity. He is a mercenary turned experimental test subject turned disfigured, badass superhero. That doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a Superman-style boy scout. He’s got a code, but it’s definitely not Captain America’s. He is psychotic, mentally unstable with chunks of memory missing, sarcastic, and brave. Deadpool is constantly running his mouth, when he’s beating guys up and when he’s getting beaten up. That accounts for pretty much all of his time. He doesn’t care about much in this world, but he loves Vanessa more than anything. He says her crazy matches his crazy and that’s really saying something.
