Padma Patil is a fictional character from the Harry Potter book series written by J. K. Rowling. She is a British witch of Indian heritage and half-blood or pure-blood witch born to Mr. and Mrs. Patil and twin of Parvati Patil. She and her twin sister Parvati attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the same year that the famous Harry Potter began his first year. Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw, while her twin was sorted into Gryffindor. She shared a dormitory with Lisa Turpin, Morag MacDougal, Mandy Brocklehurst and Su Li. During her fourth year, she was escorted to the Yule Ball by a completely uninterested Ron Weasley in her date, spending the evening stewing of jealousy over Hermione's date with Viktor Krum. In the Order of the Phoenix, Padma becomes Ravenclaw prefect and during her fifth year, she joined Dumbledore's Army, an organization created by her comrades Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Padma and Parvati's mother and father planned to pull them out of school in sixth year due to the dangers at Hogwarts, but they stayed for the rest of the year and the following, their final year at Hogwarts, and participated in the Battle of Hogwarts.
